What's this. The book includes many photos of s in use in World War I and in training camps from that era. I thought that except for the Marines in the Pacific using the ’03 for sniping, and grenade launching, the and A3 were rarely used in combat in World War II. An Illustrated Guide to the ’03 Springfield Service Rifle proves I was incorrect.

The shorter headless firing pin assemblys are for the Cal M and MM1 rifles. As can be seen from the scale drawings of the cal parts on pages and of the book "The '03 Springfield rifles' Era", the Mi assembly is slightly shorter than is that for the MM1.

My vote is for Clark Campbell's "The '03 Springfield Era" ( Revision). I believe you can order it through Scott Duff.

Hi, I recently saw E.C. Crossman's "Book of the Springfield" being offered on-line by a used book-seller and I'm thinking about getting a copy.

I already have most of the 'must-have' reference books on the Springfield including the Brophy book and Poyer & Reisch's 'For Collectors Only' book as well, so maybe this new title would be surplus to needs for me.
